An exploration of the poetry of Thomas Hardy. Timothy Dean, Artistic Director of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s ‘Song Studio’, gives an informal introduction to Hardy’s work and an insight into how a composer goes about setting his poetry to music, with practical demonstrations. Robin Taylor will read selected poems, and song settings of Hardy poems by Gerald Finzi and Benjamin Britten will be performed by David Horton (tenor) and Jerome Knox (baritone), accompanied on the piano by Timothy Dean. The performance will include an interval with a bar.
