‘Bean’ David Bottomley

David, aka Bean, is autistic, dyslexic and non-binary gendered. Last year, while lying on a bed in casualty following a nasty traffic accident, he was diagnosed with life-limiting (terminal) renal cancer.

His mental wiring is such that he doesn’t think in words or pictures, but in ideas, patterns and concepts. This makes him excellent at maths and music, but not so good at expressing his thoughts in language, either written or spoken. Ironic, given his current passion for blogging …

Bean works closely with his wife, Teresa, who is a writer, a therapeutic counsellor and occasional singer of folk songs.

Established in 2010, Penzance Literary Festival has grown into one of the UK's favourite festivals for authors and visitors.
