David Horton

Devon-born David Horton is studying on the Masters Opera Course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland under the tutelage of Scott Johnson., with the support of a scholarship from the RCS Trust.

He graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2010. He then spent a year in Australia studying with Dr Rowena Cowley in Sydney

Operatic roles include: Gaudenzio ( Il Signor Bruschino/Rossini), English Eccentrics ( British Youth Opera), Sir Hugh Evans (Sir John in Love/Vaughan Williams), Le Gendarme (Les Mamelles de Tiresias/Poulenc) all at RCS, Dandini ( Cenerentola / Rossini) for Jackdaws Opera, L’enfant et les sortileges ( Ravel) at RNCM, Ben Budge (Beggar’s Opera) at the European Opera Centre.

David also has a large song repertoire, which he enjoys performing, especially French Song and English repertoire form the 20th century

David played Magician 1 in Henry McPherson’s opera Im Uhte, recorded with the BBCSSO and premiered in 2016
