Des Hannigan

Des Hannigan has been a journalist and travel writer for over thirty years. For several years, he worked as a news reporter and feature writer for West Country newspapers and magazines but for the past twenty-five years has worked as a travel writer and photographer for publishers such as Lonely Planet and AA Publishing as a sole author or part of an authorial team. He is also an award-winning poet. He has just finished revising the AA’s Cornwall guide and editing a mammoth rock- climbing guide to West Cornwall.

His latest ‘proper’ book is The Almost Island: Atlantic Cornwall, a collection of short essays and verse about the Cornish cliffs and the Celtic Sea, now in its third reprint. He is working on a sequel to ‘The Almost Island’, planned for release later this year.

Established in 2010, Penzance Literary Festival has grown into one of the UK's favourite festivals for authors and visitors.
