How to Get Published: the agent’s perspective, with Juliet Pickering
Juliet, who is with the Blake Friedmann Literary Agency, offers insights into the publishing process from polishing your novel to finding an agent and publisher. She will guide you through the process of securing your first book deal, and beyond, to what to expect as a published author.
Juliet worked for Waterstones as a fiction buyer before joining A P Watt in 2003, and became an Agent in 2007. She moved to Blake Friedmann in 2013 and her list includes Costa, Commonwealth, Orwell Prize and Guardian First Book shortlisted authors. Her interests cover everything from literary to well-written commercial fiction, including crime. She also represents many non-fiction writers across the board, including memoir, pop culture, social history, feminist and political commentary, cookery and food writing, and all sorts in between.
