Online Self-Promotion (That Won’t Make You Feel Slimy), with Laurie Garrison
Laurie, a digital marketer, will introduce writers to the most relevant tools of professional online marketers. Participants will leave with knowledge of techniques used in content marketing, search engine optimization and social media management—as practiced in online marketing agencies—as well as an understanding of how to set up a self-promotion schedule that does not feel uncomfortable, slimy or salesy.
Lauie has had successful careers in two disparate fields: lecturing in Victorian literature and digital marketing. As a lecturer, her monograph about sensation novels was shortlisted for the international ESSE prize and her edition of panorama programmes was reviewed in a two-page spread in the TLS. As a digital marketer, she has worked with British Gas, O2, the Mozilla Foundation and was regularly retweeted by HRH The Duke of York in her work for an educational nonprofit. She now combines her expertise from both these fields to help writers use the online world to complete, publish and promote their books
