For the past seven years, Anna has been the one and only bilingual tour guide specialising in Penzance and Mousehole, travelling with cruise ship visitors on coaches through Penwith and hoping to entice them to return for a longer holiday.
This year, she presented her virtual coach tour through Cornwall to a German Landfrauen (WI) group. Anna devoted six months to studying Cornish history and attending talks by Old Cornwall Societies, and still spends long hours studying and researching at the Morrab Library – but finds that the best local stories come from the local people rather than from apps or maps.
Anna McClary – Germany to Cornwall
This digital story was made by Storylines as part of a Titanic Stories: Contemporary Voices exhibition at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall. Storylines worked closely with five people who had moved from overseas and now live in Cornwall to hear about their experiences and produce a series of digital stories.
